Villeneuve: "McLaren is a loser!"

Villeneuve: "¡McLaren es un perdedor!"

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Jacques Villeneuve harshly criticized McLaren, and not without reason. Ever since it was definitively decided that the Papayas would lose the individual world title, they've been saying it was always secondary to them...

This, to put it mildly, is unprofessional, and at this level it is rather ridiculous, something Villeneuve could not help but comment on:

"McLaren said something incredible after the Brazilian Grand Prix, as they started talking about how for them it's not the individual title, but the constructors' title that takes priority. And that it's always been like that... This is beyond strange, as only inveterate losers say things like this, and according to this, McLaren is a loser. I recognize that there is money in the constructors' title, but in reality that's it, nobody cares who wins.

In the end, people will only remember who wins the drivers' competition, because in their eyes, the team that won the championship is also the one that won the individual championship. A constructors' victory is good for the profession and for the wallet. It looks good on paper, but I repeat: nobody cares… This attitude is a shame, because they are having a great season, and it is already a great achievement that they forced Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing to fight." - Villeneuve commented with his characteristic sincerity.
