Anyone following Lewis Hamilton's debut with Scuderia Ferrari will have noticed that the Briton lacks his usual nonsense this time around. Elegant, measured, almost exemplary. Like a true athlete! It seems he's not doing all this of his own volition...
It turns out the seven-time world champion also "tried" some peculiarities with the Italians, such as a deal with a clothing sponsor that hadn't been previously agreed upon. Hamilton announced during last week's testing that he would be the face and ambassador for the fashion brand Lululemon. However, he neglected to inform Scuderia Ferrari, as well as its official clothing partner, Puma. The Germans were so upset by the move that Ferrari president John Elkann reportedly had to calm things down.
Finally, with special permission from Elkann, Hamilton will be able to collaborate with the aforementioned company, but only on the condition that he consider Puma's commercial interests in the future. The consequence of the scandal is that Hamilton was forced to dress normally (i.e., without any divisive extravagance) in Bahrain, and we saw him every day in the official Puma Scuderia Ferrari uniform.
