Brazilian Grand Prix, sprint race: Norris got a gift victory

Gran Premio de Brasil, carrera sprint: Norris consiguió una victoria de regalo

Tamás Jancsovics |

In a dragged-out race with little action, Oscar Piastri handed a start-to-finish victory to Lando Norris to help him in the points standings.

Oscar Piastri got off to an excellent start, easily maintaining his lead, and there were no changes at the front of the field. Max Verstappen aggressively attempted to overtake Charles Leclerc, but after several attempts, he was unsuccessful. Nico Hülkenberg improved the most among those on track, but behind him the positions remained stable. Sergio Pérez also made an effort, and he had good reason to, as his Red Bull Racing seat is very much in jeopardy. In the final quarter of the race, Verstappen caught Leclerc and took third place, while McLaren was preparing for a position swap. This happened on lap 22, and the race almost ended in a VSC phase due to Hülkenberg's retirement, with only half a lap of competition remaining. Thus, Lando Norris won the sprint ahead of Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen.
