Max Verstappen really likes what he does and how Oscar Piastri does it, despite this weekend's defeat. Perhaps he sees a bit of himself in this story.
McLaren has clearly entered the fight for the individual world title very strongly this year, but while everyone expects that from Lando Norris, it's possible that a third name will be laughing at the finish line. Reigning champion Max Verstappen sees this too, and he speaks with unusual sincerity, without any psychological games—it can now be confirmed—about his main rival:
“Oscar is performing spectacularly. Many tend to forget, but it's worth remembering: 2024 was only his second season, 2025 will be his third, and yet he's still very strong. When necessary, he's calm; when necessary, he delivers something exceptional; he makes almost no mistakes. That's how you should do it if your goal is the title!”
"Mark Webber certainly helps him a lot, and that's a great thing. You learn more from your own career; these experiences are passed on to Oscar. My father did that with me too. And Oscar Piastri is a good student; he learns the lessons and does the work! He's talented, intelligent, and not afraid to use his talents. It's good to see!" said Max Verstappen, sportingly.
