In recent weeks, Aston Martin's alleged multi-million-dollar contract offer, which they are trying to use to woo Max Verstappen, has caused quite a stir. Günther Steiner believes the move will be successful, as the sum is inconceivable...
While there's no guarantee that Aston Martin will become a world champion, there are signs pointing in that direction. Steiner believes Verstappen will accept the offer even if the Greens aren't competitive:
"One billion is a huge figure. Even if Max finished last, he'd do it for one billion immediately. Not many teams can afford that, but Aston clearly can; they can put a billion-dollar salary on the table. It's a very high standard, an absolute record in F1 history, probably never broken by anyone. I mean, if this is real and not just speculation... I don't think it is. The reason I doubt it will happen is the current driver pairing. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are under contract until 2026; I don't think Fernando will leave, and I don't think Lawrence Stroll would sacrifice his own son on the altar of business. However, from 2027 onwards, the situation will be completely different..." - Steiner left the door open.
