Lando Norris dominated Saturday afternoon's sprint race at the Qatar Grand Prix, but surrendered victory to his teammate Oscar Piastri on the final lap.
Both McLarens got off to a great start, with Lando Norris quickly breaking away from the pack. At the back of the field, it was interesting to observe the struggles of Max Verstappen, the new world champion, who couldn't overtake Pierre Gasly even on lap four. All of this only happened on lap eight, which isn't what we usually expect from him. Speaking of Red Bull Racing, it's also worth mentioning the "performance" of Sergio Pérez, who couldn't even overtake Franco Colapinto, who came out of the pits (the Argentinian did so immediately instead) and was in 19th place. It's worth noting that the fact that someone is both a Formula 1 driver and a member of the Red Bull team is slowly approaching the realm of the incredible. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc climbed to fifth place after a spectacular battle with Lewis Hamilton, so we saw a McLaren-Mercedes-Ferrari pattern. In the end, this didn't change, except that on the last lap Lando Norris handed victory to Oscar Piastri, while George Russell managed to climb onto the podium behind them.
