Sainz senior: “It wasn't Ferrari who needed Hamilton, but the other way around.”

Sainz mayor: “No fue Ferrari quien necesitaba a Hamilton, sino al revés”

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

It's been a long time since Carlos Sainz's departure was announced, and from time to time, the fact that the Spaniard was fired by Scuderia Ferrari during perhaps his best season raises a storm.

Many think this is the team's fault, but now Carlos Sainz's father has spoken out about how Lewis Hamilton is more to blame for what happened than the red team:

“Ferrari was very happy with Carlos, but he couldn't stay because Hamilton offered himself to the team. He was the one who approached Ferrari, not the other way around. That's why this story developed, but it's no longer worth complaining about. What hurts me is that Carlos doesn't receive the respect and consideration he deserves for his abilities. He's had his best season, we're seeing his best version now, and he'll only continue to improve. He's a driver who becomes more complete every year, but a difficult period awaits him at Williams. The team was second to last in the constructors' championship, yet he's very motivated. During the season, it was difficult for him to process his situation, as well as the fact that Mercedes and Red Bull Racing didn't pick him, but you'll see what he's capable of…” the elder Sainz declared with disappointed pride.
