Honda left Formula 1 without really going anywhere, and will soon launch a new factory project, this time with Aston Martin Racing. So, of course, they'll also have a say in who they choose for their cars...
Koji Watanabe, the leader of Honda Racing Corporation, confirmed this and also hinted at who the candidates might be:
"There are more and more drivers, but the number of seats is limited. We, as a factory team, will continue to have an important role and influence in who those drivers will be who will be able to drive our car in the project we will carry out together with Aston Martin. Whoever our driver is, we plan long-term with him. We have candidates, and we know both very well.
The team will have the final say, but the basic setup is the same as it is now at Red Bull. We will have considerable influence on the key issues. I also want to emphasize that it is a great pleasure for us to be working with Adrian Newey again. We will do everything possible to be competitive," declared the leader, who knows both of them (i.e., Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda) very well.
