Perez responds: The Cadillac is coming, can the Mexican return!?

Perez responde: ¡Viene el Cadillac, ¿podrá regresar el mexicano!?

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

While we didn't see much chance of this happening a few months ago, it's now increasingly likely that Sergio Pérez's Formula 1 career isn't over, but rather on hold.

It's clear that if there's any opportunity for the driver, it's with the newly arrived Cadillac team, where they are currently still awaiting official approval from the FOM and the FIA. However, in the background, work is already underway at full speed at all levels; 2026 is just around the corner, and as we know, no racing car competes without a driver. With this in mind, Sergio Pérez is reportedly wasting no time and is already in advanced negotiations with the Andretti team. The Americans, as newcomers, will definitely emphasize experience, and guided by this, are collaborating with Ferrari regarding the power unit, before General Motors takes over this area and the team in 2028. For Cadillac, the American influence is crucial, not just in name, but also in terms of local financial background and driver identity.

Andretti will play an important role in selecting the driver lineup, and the Pérez family is known to have a good relationship with them. Therefore, those who bet more money on the Sergio Pérez-Colton Herta driver duo, which enjoys enormous popularity abroad, aren't taking a huge risk.
