Juan Pablo Montoya rarely expresses himself, but when he does, there's always a good reason. This time is no different, as he couldn't ignore the performance of former F1 driver Carlos Sainz.
But the situation Montoya addressed isn't just a matter for one person; it also heavily involves Franco Collapinto, who has burst onto the Formula 1 scene like a comet. The Colombian driver also made sure to include him in his statement:
"If I were Christian Horner or any of the Red Bull bosses, I would immediately go to Williams and tell them that if they are happy with Colapintó, then he can stay with you, and let Sainz come with us. It would be good for Franco not to immediately face such a big challenge as Max Verstappen. He could represent an even bigger risk than Sergio Pérez. The latter is experienced, has won races and knows the circumstances. At the same time, let's remember how Alexander Albon fared, how he fell apart... And this is where Carlos Sainz comes in. He would be a challenge for Verstappen, a great addition in the fight for the constructors' championship, and he would also benefit them financially.
"If I were Horner, I would choose Sainz, not Colapintó," Montoya declared, probably speaking from the hearts of many fans.
