These days, many are analyzing Liam Lawson's weak performance at the start of the season in various ways. However, former team principal Giancarlo Minardi disagrees. According to him, Lawson is not to blame for his performance.
Rather, it's Max Verstappen, who, despite his undeniable success, has made Red Bull Racing a team that's out of proportion. Verstappen is the center of attention; everything revolves around him, making it very difficult to stay focused:
“At Red Bull, the problems that cause a driver's underperformance aren't the ones most people think or think of. As Verstappen's teammate, everyone starts at a huge disadvantage, and not because the Dutchman is so incredibly good. Rather, this is because everything, down to the last screw, is designed and tuned for him, and all his teammates have suffered from this up until now. And Liam Lawson can't deal with this right now either. Simply put, in an optimal situation, this shouldn't be allowed, but due to the impact of his successes, Max already has so much power that he can easily achieve it.” - the Italian veteran defended the young Lawson.
