The end of Mick Schumacher's Formula 1 dreams has come. The young driver has officially cut almost all ties with the Mercedes team, which was his last refuge.
The young German has all but declared his F1 dreams over, and from the end of this year he will not even take on a reserve driver role for the team, as he envisions his future career entirely in the WEC (World Endurance Championship):
“I'm very grateful to Toto Wolff and the entire Mercedes-AMG Petronas family for welcoming me over the past two years. I've been able to gain insight into the team's work. I've undoubtedly become a much more experienced driver thanks to this opportunity, learning more about the engineering side of racing, but at the same time, it's been a difficult and painful period for me. It's a bad feeling just seeing these cars and not racing them; I find this hard to accept, so I had to take a step forward. In the future, I want to focus 100 percent on racing alone, and I want to fully commit to the sporting side of motorsport. As a driver, your goal is to constantly be on the track and prove yourself, as we all pursue that feeling.” – shared Mick Schumacher, who is heading to Alpine, about the background of his decision, who could only see a glimmer of hope in the arrival of General Motors in 2026.
Or maybe not...
