While all the Formula 1 portals are wagging their tails this week like a Lewis Hamilton FAN SITE, Helmut Marko has come back to see and say a wheel!
According to the Red Bull Racing veteran, it's more than evident that on the current F1 grid, Max Verstappen is by far the best, and Lewis Hamilton is far behind him:
“Let's look at 2024. Our car has often not been capable of winning, but in those moments, Max has provided the extra edge needed for success. He became world champion simply because he can find 0.1-0.2 tenths per lap in places where no one else could. Yes, not even Lewis Hamilton! He may be fast, but will he be able to keep pace with Max for a whole season? I doubt it. If he gets a great Ferrari and we can only field a middling Red Bull under Max, the latter will still be the winner between the two. So Max Verstappen will do his part; now it's up to us to give him a car with which he can not only win occasionally, but be consistently competitive.”
Unfortunately, this didn't work last season. There were times when we were the fastest, and then a week later, there was none of that pace left. We need to expand the car's operating range; that's what we're working on." - Helmut Marko gave an overview of his long-term plans.
