Lawson: "McLaren should be ashamed..."

Lawson: "McLaren debería sentirse avergonzado..."

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Liam Lawson expressed his opinion on a podcast about what he thinks about McLaren, originally from New Zealand, bringing glory to the British.

Lawson, born in the stunning island nation, isn't the first New Zealand F1 driver, as Denny Hulme was already a world champion for the country. However, it wasn't them, but the papaya McLaren team that achieved the greatest success, as it was founded by a local, specifically mentioned as Bruce McLaren, and first competed in these colors. Yes, but the team isn't linked to the country, not like it is to England, to which it is deeply connected. Lawson complained about this...

“I don't see the point in this. McLaren is a New Zealand team through and through, even in its name. It's a bit like Red Bull Racing, where they play the Austrian anthem in the event of a victory, even though they have cultivated every one of their roots in England. McLaren's headquarters are there too, but they're still New Zealanders. From a New Zealand perspective, this seems like complete nonsense, especially considering one of the greatest legends, Bruce McLaren, is the patriarch of the entire project,” Lawson expressed his fair criticism.
