Lewis Hamilton expressed concern that entry into most motorsport categories has become almost unaffordable these days.
The seven-time world champion also worries that children are being kept out of school due to sports:
"It's become incredibly expensive, even karting. I don't know exactly how much a season costs in the lower categories, but I've heard you have to pay at least three times more than when I started racing. If McLaren hadn't supported me earlier, and if I hadn't signed with Mercedes, I would never have been able to have a career like this. The way costs are rising is very worrying."

And you also hear a lot about young people who go karting not attending school. Their parents bet everything on them, and the kids just train and race constantly. Most won't make it to Formula 1, and they really need some knowledge in civilian life they can draw on. This would need to be regulated, for example, by linking the license to academic results. I think that would be the solution, because what we have now isn't good." - Hamilton shared his opinion.
