Lewis Hamilton feels that after four races he has finally found the harmony with his car, from now on everything will be different and the results will come.
The seven-time world champion's difficulties with the red racing car are also due to the fact that in his mind he hasn't yet "completely let go" of Mercedes and the routines there:
“It's now clear to me that we can really get stuck in our own habits. I've driven a car for one team for a long time, and now I've jumped into a new car that requires a completely different driving style and settings.
For example, there's the engine brake, which works completely differently. The brakes also work differently, and I've used a different type than the one at Scuderia Ferrari. Here we use Brembo, at Mercedes I've raced with Carbone Industrie for the last 15 years. This car demands a completely different driving style, so I have to adapt. And that's what I'm doing—I'm adapting, and I think I'm starting to get a feel for how I should handle this machine.
"Charles Leclerc, for example, goes through weekends with just one setting, while I'm testing one after the other, and that already puts me at a considerable disadvantage. That's why my performance is inconsistent; I just have to do a better job, and I will. Right now, I'm making things difficult for myself, but at the next race, I'll try to turn over a new leaf, start with just one setting and stick with it. I think I've figured out what it takes to be competitive, and if I apply that, I'll qualify better, and if I qualify better, I'll have a much better weekend!" declared Lewis Hamilton positively.
