Short laps, accidents, red flags, success for George Russell. In short, this is what happened in the first practice session of the Mexican Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso, who had already recovered but was still watching from the pits, and five young drivers made up the grid for FP1. Oliver Bearman in Scuderia Ferrari, Robert Schwartzman in Stake, Felipe Drugovich in Aston Martin, Patricio O'Ward in McLaren, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli in Mercedes were able to get back into their cars. The session barely started when a red flag was issued due to debris on the track. Antonelli managed to get past them; fortunately for the young Italian, his car was undamaged. The session barely restarted when it had to be interrupted again. This time, Bearman and Alexander Albon misunderstood each other, resulting in a serious accident. Albon also stopped his car, but Ferrari also took a significant hit. What else happened during practice? Nothing really special; George Russell won this stage ahead of Carlos Sainz and Yuki Tsunoda.
