Ecclestone: "Hamilton won't last long at Ferrari..."

Ecclestone: "Hamilton no va a durar mucho en Ferrari..."

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Bernie Ecclestone, the former Formula 1 boss, has harshly criticized Lewis Hamilton. According to Ecclestone, Hamilton isn't worth settling in Italy for long.

This may have "something to do" with Scuderia Ferrari's traditions, as Maranello isn't necessarily a place where they'd be enthusiastic about Hamilton's celebrity-inducing antics. According to Ecclestone, this doesn't strengthen the Briton's position either:

"His contract runs until 2026, but he's not going to see it out. Piero Ferrari took him there, and he believes he's done the team a favor. I hope he doesn't regret his decision. I hope they don't say they wish we hadn't done it... Age is one thing, competitiveness is another. I think in Lewis's case, he's actually tired now, not as motivated as he used to be. If he didn't have a single world title, maybe the situation would be different, that would drive him. But he already has seven. The other root of the problem is his past actions.

"He's definitely done a lot of things that might make him unpopular. I myself don't understand why someone has to dress like that when they're a world champion and a millionaire. I don't like it at all; it's not appropriate. I don't understand why he keeps doing this nonsense... He's obviously a talented driver, but he's very overrated," Ecclestone harshly criticized Hamilton.
