An unprecedented crowd is expected at Fiorano for Lewis Hamilton's first test with Ferrari. A journalist has reported that the Italian police are concerned, as they believe this situation poses a serious security risk...
Roberto Chinchero, a journalist, spoke on an F1 podcast about how we should prepare for incredibly tumultuous scenes at both Maranello and Fiorano. Chinchero probably isn't talking nonsense; as a local, he knows the temperament of the Tifosi and, in general, the Italian people well. He's not alone in his concern:
"Scuderia Ferrari fans in Italy have been eagerly awaiting the date Lewis Hamilton gets behind the wheel of a red car from the very first moment. I really can't imagine what awaits us in Maranello and Fiorano. There will be an incredible amount of people on the streets, which in a sense also represents a security risk. The local police are not reassured, which I can completely understand; they will have a huge challenge ahead of them. Of course, this is not surprising; the press has done a lot for this, and not just the car/motorsport magazines.
The mainstream is also constantly occupied with Hamilton, which has further boosted the already considerable interest..." - said Chinchero.
