Sprint timer: Piastri on pole!

Cronómetro de sprint: ¡Piastri en la pole!

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Sprint qualifying continued the Brazilian Grand Prix program on Friday, with Oscar Piastri ultimately winning.

The opening laps of SQ1 unfolded in an interesting way, and it was already clear that this stage could bring an impressive spectacle: on a constantly improving track, we saw Liam Lawson take the lead, then Oscar Piastri, and finally Lando Norris took this stage ahead of his teammate and Alexander Albon. Among those eliminated were the two Aston Martins, Yuki Tsunoda, Guanyu Zhou, and Esteban Ocon.

In SQ2, Norris again led the race, followed by Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen. There was no doubt about the first trio. However, behind them, almost anything could have happened, anything could have developed. Who would have thought, for example, that Oliver Bearman, who came in due to Kevin Magnussen's illness, would easily advance to SQ3? However, we were no longer surprised by Sergio Pérez's elimination. The elimination of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hülkenberg was a major shock, as both teammates advanced. Franco Collapinto and Valtteri Bottas were unable to continue in the race.

In the final phase of sprint qualifying, the battle was fought on soft compounds, and the power relations were reversed: Oscar Piastri was the fastest, and beating Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc, he will start from pole position in the sprint race of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
