Gerhard Berger, the former Scuderia Ferrari classic, didn't try to take the burden off his former team. Quite the opposite!
According to Berger, with the development of recent years and the arrival of Lewis Hamilton, this year everything has aligned for Ferrari to finally emerge from its own shadow. The Austrian believes this will be THE year all of this will happen:
“This season, I would bet all my money on Ferrari. I couldn't say whether Lewis Hamilton or Charles Leclerc will be the world champion, or whether the drivers' or constructors' teams will win, but they will win. They will win the title! In terms of power and chassis, they are incredibly strong; they probably have one of the strongest driver pairings of all time, if not the strongest. Furthermore, Hamilton's arrival at Maranello has brought a level of motivation that is rare. He needed new stimuli, and I think he will receive them perfectly at Ferrari.
At Mercedes, he could only occasionally taste victory, and now he finds himself in an environment where everyone is hungry for success. I'm sure he'll give his all, but I fear he'll have a hard time dealing with Leclerc's speed. What could help him greatly is his friendship with Frederic Vasseur. I think Hamilton is not just a driver, but a leader who can inspire and lead the entire team to victory!" said Gerhard Berger, explaining why he considers the Italians the biggest favorites for 2025.
