This was stated by team principal Mattia Binotto. Therefore, the team, which will join Formula 1 in 2026, doesn't want to remain inactive for long, as it aims to win a championship by the end of the decade.
It's a big commitment, but with the factory's backing, the project isn't at all unimaginable:
"We don't just have to climb a mountain, but Mount Everest itself. It will take several years before we truly succeed, but our goal is clear: by the end of the decade, we want to be competing for the championship title. Currently, the gap is still vast compared to what I saw at Ferrari; you could say a chasm separates us. The infrastructure, the personnel, the mentality—we have to transform a small team into a great one. Our performance in 2024 is precisely what it is because we are no longer focusing on 2024, but on 2026. Our work, our developments, our entire focus is directed there."
"Audi entered Formula 1 to be a competitive member of the grid. That will be the case until we win, but also after that. We think long-term; we want to evolve into a winning team and be a useful part of the sport. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport, and it's fantastic that Audi has finally committed to it," the Italian specialist stated.
