Alonso: “Max, as a teammate? That bodes well!”

Alonso: “Max, ¿como compañero de equipo? ¡Son buenos augurios!”

There's been increasing talk of Max Verstappen switching teams these days. Due to Red Bull's struggles, Fernando Alonso also has his say on the driver, who is increasingly being talked about as a member of Aston Martin.

The veteran Spaniard might fear for his position against the reigning world champion, but Alonso wouldn't be Alonso if he thought that way...

"I'm not worried about my position; I have an active contract until 2025. However, I consider these rumors to be a very encouraging sign, both from my perspective and that of the team. The fact that the world champion is being mentioned alongside Mercedes and Ferrari shows the quality of the project we're working on and the future that awaits Aston Martin.

"I'll be on the track myself as long as I consider myself fast and competitive enough, and of course, as long as the team needs me. However, my commitment is long-term; I'll be here for many more years, just maybe in a different position. If that means we don't win the world championship with me at the wheel, I'll still be very proud. And of course, if the situation arises, I'd be delighted to have Max Verstappen as a teammate..." the legend reflected.
