In two years, a new era will begin: the MGUH will be eliminated, the electric motor's efficiency will increase, and sustainable fuels will be introduced.
There have been periods of major change, when the Mercedes team was the one that adapted best. According to James Volwes, the situation is similar now, as Toto Wolff's team is far ahead of the rest when it comes to resources:
"I think Mercedes is doing a truly exceptional job. That's why we're happy to continue being their engine partner. Starting in 2026, resources will be simplified, but at the same time, the design process has undergone a huge change; everything is happening in the electric world, and this is not only a challenge but also a huge opportunity. Mercedes was smart to start investing in these technologies before anyone else. Currently, there are no differences between the engines, but that will soon change. It's true that it won't be to the same extent we've seen since 2014, but there will be differences. However, they won't be so great that the group will be brutally broken up," declared a former Mercedes employee, the Williams team boss.
