The World Motorsport Council met, focusing on reforming the current points system.
The plan was to drastically change the system, but it was ultimately scrapped. Instead, they will eliminate the bonus points system. This was introduced in 2019 for drivers who finished in the top ten and achieved the fastest lap. From 2025, this will no longer exist. At the start of the season, there was still talk that in the future, instead of the current top 10, those ranked first to 12 would receive points.
Ultimately, after ongoing discussions, they scrapped this, and along with the aforementioned change, the current system will remain in place.
